The Least of These...

My family was incredibly blessed by my oldest son's school this Christmas so I decided as a thank you that I would make them a cake. It is completely buttercream icing and decorations and on the board is written, "Whatever you did for one of the least of these... so also you did for me! Mt 25:40"  It was great making this cake and playing with the buttercream decorations. I can't wait to do it on my next cake too!

A Very Batty Birthday!

I was asked by my pastor and his wife to do a joint birthday cake for their two boys. I ofcourse said yes! I wanted something really boyish but didn't have a whole lot of time so I decided just to do a Batman Cake. I did the Batman symbol on the cake out of fondant but the rest of the frosting is just vanilla frosting colored blue and black. Then on the sides I put all of those fun action words that you see in those old cartoons. I had fun making it!

A 50th Birthday Cake!

This cake was made for a 50th birthday party. The theme of the party was "All the Shimmers" and this cake really went along with that theme. It was a dark chocolate fudge cake with vanilla pudding filling. (People are really loving the pudding fillings right now!) And it was decorated with white, purple and silver fondant as well as little crystals that I stuck all over the outside of the cake. All in all it was huuuge hit! :) I really loved doing this cake for my friend's mom because it really allowed me to be a little "blingy" too.

Black and White Wedding!

A bride approached me at church last week asking if i could please make her cake because the quotes that bakers were giving her were way out of her price range... I ofcourse said YES! She wanted black and white. I did 3 sketches all different designs and she liked the bottom tier from one and the top tier from another so we combined them... I think it came out fantastically!!
::NOTE TO SELF:: After you steam the fondant, DO NOT put it back in the fridge, because the sheen goes away :(

Fondant Work...

Fondant is by far my favorite medium to work with. Here are some of my cakes that I have made with some fondant and creativity!

This was a chocolate cake with vanilla pudding and fresh strawberry filling. This was a handmade fondant bow as well.

My son's first birthday cake. A topsy turvy cake with blue and white frosting. The top half I did red velvet and vanilla cake with a cream cheese filling and the bottom tier I did chocolate cake with vanilla pudding.

New Hope Christian Communities 1st anniversary cake! A topsy turvy cake with alternating round and square tiers. Its hard to see but the blue fondant is actually more of a blue marble look. I threw on some cutouts and a hand made fondant bow and it really made the cake!
